Very often on historic preservation projects, we find that the the original roofing system or cladding system was well-designed and well-built, utilizing good traditional technologies, available at the time of construction. Well-intended, but inappropriate repairs over the years can cause damage. We have optimal respect for the historic preservation of buildings and consider ourselves stewards in examining how the building functioned with historical technologies, looking to incorporate and blend in new technologies and materials.
We understand the process of preservation, which includes grants, regulations and more, in order to be able to advise owners as to priorities, options, and at time, limitations due to code, feasibility, etc. We make it a point to be connected with contractors, studios and manufacturers who specialize in preservation.
With a passion for preservation, and a real appreciation for the quality of construction and design on old buildings, we hold true to the statement: "They just don't make 'em like that anymore."
