Monument View is a mixed-use retail and office space developed on 4.71 acres just south of Long Bridge Park at a site once known as North Tract, just north of Crystal City and across the highway from The Pentagon. Following the construction of Monument View, the county plans to build a 30-acre aquatics and sports facility and a park, on what will become a gateway development for the Arlington area.
Phase I of the Monument view project consists of 3,512 square feet of ground floor convenience retail space, 323,229 square feet of office space and three levels of underground parking. The unique, contemporary building consists of approximately 59,717 square feet of curtain wall. The project pursued a minimum LEED Silver certification from the USGBC.
Boeing, the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer and one of the largest global aerospace and defense contractors, has moved forward with its plans to consolidate its Arlington, Virginia operations through the acquisition of the Monument View property.
Wheaton Sprague partnered with Harmon Inc.’s Baltimore Office to provide a preliminary study which included proposal drawings and initial calculations for the different wall types. Wheaton Sprague was then contracted to provide System Design, Shop drawings, Fabrication Drawings, and Engineering – utilizing Harmon’s SMU systems for the curtain wall, strip window and storefront areas of the building.
