Mr. Kohler has received consistent recognition for P&L improvement, effectively leading change, and managing innovative strategies to achieve or exceed business goals. A transformational leader, Mr. Kohler thrives in creating environments that accelerate team development.
When not at work, Mike’s life revolves around his children. Mike has a 24-year-old son in his last year of studies for an International Business degree from Cleveland State University, a 16-year-old daughter with aspirations of being a cardiac surgeon, and a 14-year-old daughter with an interest in movie directing. The kids get the bulk of his free time, but if he's not with them you can find him either on one of the many beautiful golf courses we are fortunate to have in Ohio, enjoying any one of our National Parks (his personal goal is to visit all 50, and he is at 31 and counting), woodworking (Mike loves to build cabinets and furniture), or reading. Additionally, Mike has very strong relationships with his parents and 5 siblings, all of whom live in Northeast Ohio.
Little known facts about Mike include that he has traveled to over 100 countries and every continent excluding Antarctica. His children were born on three different continents! The best part of the extensive traveling has been the exposure to the varied cuisines of the world. Mike will try almost anything and likes to understand the significance of a dish for each given culture he visits. Asian, Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine are among Mike's favorites, but he thoroughly enjoys sitting down to a traditional central European dinner like the ones he had growing up. Meat and potatoes are a solid second choice and Barramundi fish from Australia can’t be beaten. As daring as he is, don't ask Mike to eat bugs of any kind, or liver, sour cream, cream cheese, mushrooms, certain types of cheeses, monkey brains (don’t ask), or tofu!
Mike is a big-time Do-It-Yourselfer. He'll tinker with anything from automobile maintenance and restoration, to home appliance repair, to construction projects. Mike has built a large two-story barn from the ground up, and fully rewired and replumbed single family homes (passing inspection first time through!). Although, despite having been on the outside of many of the world’s tallest buildings, Mike has a fear of heights!
With a number of certifications, Mike is regularly keeping up with continuing education and is a big believer in perpetual learning and self-improvement. He enjoys any type of DIY projects, woodworking, reading, philatelist (that's stamp collecting), and coaching youth league sports. An avid Cleveland sports fan, Mike is keen to say "don't dis my Tribe, Cavs, or Browns!"
Thus far at Wheaton Sprague, Mike says he's found a tremendous degree of individual passion among the staff for the work that they do, and a desire to exceed customer expectations. Everyone has been tremendously welcoming and engaging!
According to John Wheaton, President of Wheaton Sprague, "Hiring a Branch Leader to lead and manage our founding branch office and corporate HQ location was our #1 strategic priority this year. Mike is a technical leader, an organizational leader, a self-learner, and has balanced skills for effective people leadership combined with deep technical and industry knowledge. Mike has already accomplished much and made an immediate impact since joining WS in August. Mike's presence will further enable long term growth, more value in delivery of our services, and improved support for clients and staff. We look forward to the company's advancement and sustainable growth fulfilling our branch of "Creating Structure" under Mike's leadership. I couldn't be more pleased than to be working with Mike."
